Firstly, I forgot to mention about how awesome the toilets are here in Japan!! My first experience was quite an anxious one as there were so many buttons and symbols, it totally blew my mind!
Ok, so this is what I gathered on how to use the toilet; when you open the lid the seat is already warm and takes a couple of goes to get use to that feeling. Its like you have just sat down on it when someone else has..hahaha…wierd!!!
After you have done your business, there are a few buttons next to you, which are stop, “date spray” and the female spray (which i have not pressed for obvious reasons!). What i can tell you next is pretty gross but so fascinating at the same time, so here it goes…When you hit the spray button, sounds of mechanical gearing going up and down as it takes aim. Then FIRE! The sensation is so wrong as warm water is squirted up your date, but i can tell you now it has a 99% accuracy!!
Secondly, I am so amazed on the amount of vending machines Japan has, there is a vending machine for everything..so far we have seen the ones for Hot drinks, cold drinks, cigarettes etc. But the most strangest thing i have noticed is that there is not one single mark of graffiti on them! Back home, they would have been vadalised and so roughed up that you probably couldn’t even tell what was vending. Anyway, so far most drinks are approximately 120-150 Yen, which is about $2.70ish.
In the morning we caught the train to Henada airport which was not as scary this time as we knew what to expect in a Japanese train during peak-hour. So we broke into two groups and squeezed onto the Henada express train (think of a gentle footy scrum).
The bus ride was a two and a half hour journey through sweeping mountains and lakes, it was so majestic!
We got to our apartment, which was practically brand new..it was so nice! Really nice furnishing, central heating and the bit i loved the most was the bottom floor had underfloor hydronic heating in the ski room.
Dinner was at a quaint little place (Ashikawa-ramen) which served king crab ramen in which Mike recommended. It was really expensive when you converted it back to Aussie dollars; about $30 bucks a bowl, but it was worth giving it a try! Everyone enjoyed their meal and went back to settle for the night ready for our first taste of snowboarding/skiing.
