Prologue

Hi everyone,

This Blog is dedicated to our anticipated 3 week trip to Japan for a Snowboard-ski/Sightsee adventure in March 2009!

We have Lisa, Nancy, Mike, Kim, John, Orla, Tony, Young, Charles and myself (Dave), participating in this trip in which we are all very excited and eagerly awaiting the challenges ahead! )

This trip began as a leisurely chat between Mike and Kim one evening about another Japan trip in 08/09, as they had already went the previous year and boasted how good it was! When Jetstar began their massive sale on Japan Tickets back in July 08, I got this call from Mike (in pure excitement!!) asking if Lisa and I wanted to go? As soon as we saw how cheap these tickets were, we snapped at the chance without even blinking!!! So from that, it grew from there….

Our trip begins with an early Departure from Brizzy to Cairns where we board another flight straight to Tokyo. From there we hit the slopes in Niseko, which is on the island of Hokkaido Japan, for 6 full days of white powdery snow! We then return to Tokyo for a few days before heading to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Osaka, Himeji and Koyasan.

So far, the Snow Season for 08/09 has been a Bumper season with record snow falls, so it should provide beautiful skiing/snowboarding conditions. But that is not the only thing falling, the Australian Dollar is absolutely dismal, with no sign of gaining strength anytime soon. At the time of writing this intro, the JPY is currently at 59.73 Yen, and 66 cents to the Greenback!! ick!!!

Anyway, we shall endeavour to record our journey on a day to day basis with all members of our group participating in this blog to hopefully share their own experiences and their own interpretation of the trip.

Please join us and share the experience of our journey through this blog, as we adventure into the ‘Land of the Rising Sun!’ or otherwise known as majestic Japan…

Happy Blogging,

Dave :)

  1. There’s a wordpress app available for the iphone/itouch in the appstore. Since a few of us already have this brillant device we could conveniently blog and upload our photos on the go.
